Two needless run-outs and superb left arm bowling by Mehran Mumtaz left Zimbabwe A reeling at 102-4 at close of day 2 in the first four-day match played at Kwekwe Sports Club. In pursuit of a mammoth 521-3, Zimbabwe A started slowly which led to the departure of opener of Joylord Gumbie who was the first run-out victim in Zimbabwe’s innings.

Dion Myers and fellow opener Tanunurwa Makoni steadied the ship, exhibiting tremendous stroke-play and good temperament as they stitched together a 64 run partnership for the second wicket.
Makoni fell for 21 runs, caught by Imran Butt off the bowling of Mumtaz. Dion Myers soldiered on getting his fourth first class half century. He failed to kick as he was caught off the bowling of Mumtaz. He departed for 56.
Wessly Madhevere was run out towards the end of the day for 15. Stumps were called with Zimbabwe A at 102-4 with skipper Roy Kaia and Faraz Akram on the crease.
The Zim A’s batting inning was a far cry from the dominant display exhibited by the Pakistan Shaheens. Zim A had got the all-important early wicket of skipper Imran Butt for only three runs.
Mohammad Hurraira and Omair Bin Yousuf toyed with the Zimbabwe bowling as they put on 341 runs on the board for the second wicket. Both batsman crossed 150+ scores. Omair Yousuf got his double hundred finishing unbeaten at 250.
Hurrraira was dismissed by Nyauchi for 178 at a relatively quick-fire rate of 94.68. Zimbabwe ‘s pace bowling trio of Tanaka Chivanga, Victor Nyauchi and Faraz Akram all got a wicket a piece.
This is the first of six matches between Zimbabwe A and Pakistan Shaheens, with the tour comprising of two first class matches as well as six List A matches.
