The East side of Zimbabwe continues to produce gems with Stodge, who comes from Chipinge, blessing the streets with his first offering titled Certified Gevha.
Stodge Baller Rekanyi |
The song was produced in Chipinge/Kanyi.
It is a bold assertion of a young male adult expressing his passion for hustling and also the inherent desire for material success. Stodge does well to deliver his bars on modern trap beats with a heavy bassline - as this goes in tandem with the attitudes he exudes on the song.
Certified Gevha also serves as a rallying call to fellow youths to keep working despite the searing difficulties in a neoliberal Zimbabwe. (Although this ideological disposition may not seem immediate to the rapper).
Gevha is street slang denoting a hardened male, a serial hustler who gets money and power either through legal or illegal means. The word may actually refer to a tsotsi, in Stodge's words. But he is giving broader scope to the term gevha by making it accommodate everyone else who is doing all they can to secure an honest livelihood in a difficult Zimbabwe. Including the criminals.
The song has some dope animation by Lean Migo Studios (who has been very impressive in his line of work). Certified Gevha was produced by Mr Cliq.
