In
the latest round of NPL the Gladiators pulled of a surprise win over Easterns
at Mutare Sports Club, clinching their first victory by 19 runs. After being
put to bat first, the Gladiators were bowled out for 142 with Tony Munyonga
holding the innings together with a cool 64. In response the Easterns struggled
and were eventually bundled out for 123. Tony Munyonga was named man of the
match.
At
Kwekwe Sports Club, Rainbow faced Queens in a relatively high scoring affair.
Rainbow batted first and put up 246-7 in their allotted 45 overs. Clive
Imbayago top scored for Rainbow with an unbeaten 85. He was supported by top
order batsman Brian Mudzinganyama who had 64 as well as Victor Nyauchi who had 55.
In response Queens Sports Club fell short by 37 runs with fast bowlers Nyauchi
and Jakiel derailing the Queens' chase. Nyauchi finished with figures of 3-41
and Jakiel 2-23. Clive Imbayago was named the man of the match.
Table
toppers Takashinga beat Great Zimbabwe Patriots by 8 wickets. The Patriots were
bowled out for 137.Nungu and Luke Oldknow top scored for the Patriots with
scores of 38 and 29 respectively. In response Takashinga made light work of the
chase completing it in 22.2 overs with Kudzai Maunze top scoring with 64 not
out and was supported by an unbeaten 43 from Roy Kaia.
Amakhosi
were beaten by 4 wickets by in form Midwest. After batting first Amakhosi were
bowled out for 192. Jabulisa Tshuma finished with figures of 5-27 and was
supported by Neville Madziva who got a couple. In response Midwest chased down
the score with 5 overs to spare. Remembrance Nyathi top scored with 49 and
Musekiwa sealed the win with a classy 38*. Jabulisa Tshuma was named man of the
match for his five-for.
