Legendary All-Rounder Elton Chigumbura Retires From International Cricket - A Dedicated Fighter

Veteran Zimbabwean all-rounder Elton Chigumbura has retired from international cricket after an illustrious career that spanned a period of 16 years. 

In a Facebook post on his account, he wrote:

Today I take my hat off to say my goodbyes to international cricket with a smile on my face as I thank the lord for his blessings throughout my career and I thank my family and friends for the support and guidance they gave me to be who I am today. To all the coaches and support stuff who helped me along the way thank you so much . to the fans thank you for the support you gave me everytime I crossed the rope lastly to cricket you have been a game changer to my life from where I started to where I am today # a ticket out of poverty !! goodbye..Am out cheers 🥂

At 34, Chigumbura ends his duties for the Chevrons with a total of 14 Tests, 213 ODIs and 57 T20Is. In the Test format, he had 569 runs as a batsman. He was more prolific with the ODIs, where he accumulated 4,340 runs. In the T20Is, he had 893 runs. 

On the bowling side, he took 21 wickets in Test matches, 101 wickets in ODIs, and 16 wickets in T20Is. He represented Zimbabwe at the 2007, 2011 and 2015 Cricket World Cups, as well as featuring in five T20 World Cups. 

He remains an inspiration to the next generation of cricketers.
