After producing the hit ‘Kana Ndafa’ for the late revolutionary dancehall maestro Soul Jah Love, GZZY GTK has kept his torch ablaze by combining his forces with childhood friend and fellow producer Sancho Beatz on ‘MAGUNVOSTER RIDDIM’; with GZZY emphasizing how the collaboration was long overdue.
In an interview with this author for ZimSphere in Harare recently, GZZY revealed a couple of artists to look out for on the new Bad Company Records project.
“Chimbwa Mupengo, Zoovie Kay, Kapfupi Yut, Rextan, to mention only a few, are some of the promising artists on Magunvoster Riddim whom I have noticed that given much studio time, they are going to put a mark on the dancehall arena — just watch the space”, he said.
Gzzy further added, “Working with Sancho Beatz was something which we had been planning for a long time but time and place difference have been derailing the progress to work on any project — he is a teacher by profession, but we managed to create time for Magunvosta [Riddim] with the help of our CEO at Bad Company Metro.”
Gzzy was once signed to Dr Bond Entertainment but his contract expired and he decided to re-unite with Bad Company Records; a recording house that embodies familiar territory for the talented ZimDancehall producer.
[We once interviewed Gzzy GTK about his exploits at Dr Bond Entertainment and you can read it here.]
Speaking on his migration from Dr Bond Entertainment back to Bad Company Records, he had this to say:
“I moved on from Dr Bond Entertainment [and] now I'm back at Bad Company Records because my contract at Dr Bond had timed out; but we do not have bad blood [with Dr Bond], I managed to keep up the good relations with Dr Bond Entertainment.”
Earlier this year, GZZY collaborated with Infinity Beatz on Rare Musik’s Takaenda Riddim — a name derived from the popular street lingua franca/slang in vogue ‘takaenda takaenda’ — and that riddim was a blessing to ZimDancehall. The 2022 riddim features twenty-two (22) artists including Silent Killer, Dobba Don, Uncle Epatan, Seh Sparta, Mostaff, Ally D, Beezman Chipoko ChaSauro, Fruitman, Cantolman, and others.

It would seem as if the bulk of recording for Magunvoster Riddim is done and it is already out on Bad Company Records’ YouTube channel (there are almost fifty artists on the riddim).
Artists featured on the Magunvoster Riddim include Kinnah, Dashocca, Blot, Cantolman, Jah Child, Zoovie Kay, Culture Love, Buyaka, Bakuku, Fruitman, Ginna Marina, Gunpowder, Scarfizzo Tsotsi, Tanya Tsotsi, Jah Master, Rextan, Empress Massina, Jnr Spragga, Young Junita, and many more.
This riddim is all the more lovely for uniting established ZimDancehall artists and the newcomers, providing the ultimate dancehall combo for the most ardent dancehall lovers in Zimbabwe and beyond.
We hope the riddim spawns some big tunes on the streets.
