The Pakistan Shaheens put on the Zimbabwean side to bat first with Zimbabwe A making four changes with Tadiwanashe Marumani, Jonathan Campbell, Tony Munyonga and Luke Jongwe coming in for Tanunurwa Makoni, Wessly Madhevere, Milton Shumba and Faraz Akram.

Zimbabwe made a steady start in the morning session, following the departure of in-form opener Joylord Gumbie, Dion Myers joined Tadiwanashe Marumani to the middle and the young pair exuded confidence and class on the crease as they put up 110 runs on the board.

Both got half centuries immediately after lunch before Dion Myers was outdone by Mehran Mumtaz on 50.

Tadiwanashe Marumani was caught behind off the bowling of Amir Jamal and this sparked an extraordinary collapse as the last 9 wickets fell with only 41 runs on the board; the middle order failed to capitalised on the decent start set by Myers and Marumani.

Mohammad Ali was the pick of the Shaheens bowlers as he finished with figures of 4-36.

The Chevrons A bowlers toiled in their bowling innings in almost similar to the first encounter at Kwekwe Sports Club.

However, unlike in the first match where they failed to muster all ten wickets, they managed to get all ten wickets at a cost of 479 runs. Victor Nyauchi grabbed a fifer finishing with figures of 5-125.

Tanaka Chivanga was also electric with the ball before he was hauled off due to an injury. He had three scalps to his name.

Pakistan Shaheens’ innings was anchored by a magnificent century by Hassebullah (117 of 214 balls). He was amply supported by a trio fifties from Mohammad Huraira (64 off 86), Omair Bin Yousuf (65 off 96) and Husain Talat who put on 74.

The Zim A’s bid to salvage a result from the match was dealt another injury blow as opener Joylord Gumbie retired hurt earlier on in the innings.

This was the third Zimbabwe A player to get injured following injuries to Dion Myers and Tanaka Chivanga incurred during the bowling innings.

The makeshift batting line up offered huge resistance with little runs on the board forcing the match into the final day.

A half century from Nyasha Mayavo (55) and starts from Tony Munyonga (43) and Joylord Gumbie (42) who made a comeback down the order were of little significance as the Chevrons A were bowled out for 279 runs, still trailing by 42 runs.
