Stanbic Bank applauded for promoting junior cricket development in Zimbabwe

Stanbic Bank has received praise for its support of junior cricket development in Zimbabwe through its sponsorship of the annual Stragglers Junior Cricket Week. The bank’s contribution is seen as crucial to the success of the event, which allows 500 young cricketers to showcase their abilities.



The week-long event brings together players from different backgrounds and provides them with a well-thought cricket experience.

Stanbic Bank has been involved in the event for almost half of its 60-year history. The bank’s commitment towards shaping the future of cricket in Zimbabwe is evident through its support of initiatives like these.

Stragglers Chairlady, Win Ives said Stanbic’s contribution is indispensable to the success of Stragglers Junior cricket week, saying, “Among many other areas, Stanbic bank assists greatly in hosting the development sides that joins us. It is the one event of the year where 500 cricketers showcase their abilities”

The players in the tournament are placed into teams named after cricket playing countries. With each country playing a different country every day during the week in limited over matches.

All cricketers are rotated and every player is given a chance to bat and ball. Certificates are awarded to high achieving cricketers.

Stanbic Bank Acting head, Brand and Marketing, Tariro Memo said they are committed to playing its part in shaping the future of cricket in the country through the programme.

The Stragglers Junior Cricket Week takes place every August during school holidays at Hartmann House and St George’s College, allowing young players to let off some steam following a demanding school term.
