His journey to this momentous occasion began with his debut as a Test match official on April 29, 2021, in a match between Zimbabwe and Pakistan in Harare. Since then, he has officiated in eight Test matches.
His experience extends beyond Test cricket. Rusere made his debut in the Twenty20 International (T20I) arena in a match between Zimbabwe and India on July 19, 2015.
He followed this up with his first One Day International (ODI) match between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan on October 24, 2015. To date, he has been a match umpire in 34 ODIs and 56 T20Is.
In June 2023, Rusere's consistent performance was recognized when he was included on the International Cricket Council (ICC)’s Emerging Panel, just one level below the prestigious ICC Elite Panel of Umpires.
Rusere's portfolio also boasts of officiating at major competitions such as the Men’s T20 World Cup, the ICC Women’s World Cup, and the Women’s T20 World Cup.
