The tournament, which is set to run from January 13th to February 11th, 2024, will not be featured on DStv, a decision that has left millions of football fans across Africa in disappointment.

In a statement by Multichoice, the inability to secure broadcast rights has been cited as the primary reason behind this move.

Despite this setback, MultiChoice has assured its customers that they will still be able to access AFCON 2023 games through partner broadcast stations on Free to Air (FTA) channels.

MultiChoice went on to affirm its commitment to bringing premier football action to fans across Africa, saying subscribers can still enjoy a wide range of entertainment and football games available on DStv and GOtv platforms which includes prominent leagues such as the “Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, and the Zambian Super League,” among other football competitions.

AFCON 2023 will not broadcast on SuperSport

SuperSport has been "one of the most reliable and regular broadcaster of all African competitions over the years, but of late, they have shown less appetite in displaying CAF competitions," read a post on GOAL.

The post went on to give the broader context on why the Multichoice-owned SuperSport will not air AFCON 2023 stating, "CAF awarded Togo's New World TV with the broadcasting rights and CAF president Patrice Motsepe has described the agreement as a mega deal which no other broadcaster could match."
