HARARE – A funeral in Greendale, Harare turned into a scene of chaos and fear on Wednesday, 06 March, when five armed robbers descended upon the mourners.

The assailants, armed with a bolt cutter, catapults, and wooden sticks, launched their attack on the unsuspecting victims, turning a solemn occasion into a nightmare.
The robbers made off with a significant haul, seizing US$800 cash and 300 Euros from one of the mourners before ransacking the house.
They stole 30 assorted gold and silver rings valued at a staggering US$41,800.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the incident, stating:
Police in Highlands are investigating a case of robbery which occurred at a house in Greendale, Harare on 06/03/24 in which five unidentified male suspects who were armed with a bolt cutter, catapults and wooden sticks, attacked 10 victims who were attending a funeral.
The suspects stole US$800.00 cash and 300 Euros from one of the victims before they ransacked the house and stole 30 assorted gold and silver rings valued at US$41 800.00
In a separate incident, the police in Mvurwi are investigating another robbery at Tsapato Farm on March 5, 2024.
Six male suspects armed with sticks attacked three farm workers around 11:30 pm, stealing 36 goats and 11 sheep. The suspects loaded their loot into an unregistered white Mitsubishi motor vehicle and fled the scene.
The police are urging anyone with information that could assist in their investigations to come forward and contact their nearest Police Station.
