MASVINGO – Itai Edson Simango has been charged with murder and is currently awaiting trial in the Masvingo Magistrates' Court, according to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
The prosecution alleges that Simango fatally wounded Joseph Hungwe during a heated argument at the Zimuto Business Centre in Masvingo.
The incident occurred when Simango joined Hungwe and his two nephews for a drink.
The dispute reportedly ignited when Hungwe accused Simango of theft from his sister's residence.
This accusation allegedly provoked Simango to attack Hungwe with an empty beer bottle, stabbing him once in the neck.
Hungwe suffered severe bleeding from the wound and subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
Simango has been remanded in custody and is scheduled for his next court appearance on May 14, 2024.
