HARARE – A Harare man lost his life after being stabbed in the neck by his friend over a disagreement about a plate of sadza. The accused, Brighton Nyamukapa (34), allegedly attacked the deceased, Edward Goto, for consuming the food without his consent.
The incident occurred in the early hours of April 12, according to Prosecutor Thomas Chanakira. Following the dispute, both men retired to their rooms.
However, the situation escalated when Nyamukapa insulted Goto, leading to a confrontation in Nyamukapa's room.
Nyamukapa is alleged to have stabbed Goto once in the neck with an Okapi knife. After the crime, Nyamukapa reportedly attempted to flee to Mozambique but was apprehended on April 14 en route to Nyanga.
Harare Magistrate Dennis Mangosi has since remanded Nyamukapa in custody until May 2, pending indictment for the fatal stabbing of his friend.
