NYANGA – Simon Kwakurai, 42, the headmaster of Sanhai Primary School, was brought before the Nyanga Magistrates' Court on charges of assault after reportedly slapping a student, according to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
The incident occurred on May 22, 2023, when the school's development committee members were sending students with outstanding fees home.
The student, who was asked to leave, refused, stating that his father had arranged with the headmaster to pay the fees at a later date.
When the committee members brought the student to Kwakurai, he slapped the student five times in the face. The student began to bleed from the nose and reported the incident to the police, leading to Kwakurai's arrest.
Kwakurai pleaded guilty to the charges. He was warned, cautioned, and subsequently discharged.
