BULAWAYO—An eight-year-old school pupil was the victim of a hit-and-run accident in Bulawayo on May 9, according to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP). The incident occurred on Percy Iborston Road, opposite the TM turn off in Cowdray Park.
The driver, who was operating an unregistered white Nissan Hard Body vehicle, failed to stop after hitting the child who was crossing the road.
The young victim sustained a fractured left knee and is currently receiving treatment at Mpilo Hospital.
ZRP has issued a public appeal for assistance in the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to report to their nearest police station.
In a separate but related incident, a serious traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Simon Mazorodze Road and Remembrance Drive in Harare.
A Nissan Caravan, registration number AEB 1040, collided with another Nissan Caravan, registration number AFQ 8137, injuring one person and causing a pile-up involving five other vehicles.
The police are investigating this incident as well.
