HARARE – The Zimbabwe Hockey team flew off to Namibia last night for the four day, four nation Indoor Africa Cup in Swakopmund, Namibia.

Both the men's and women's teams will feature at the tournament, in what will be the Men's side's first indoor international in six years.
The tournament also serves as the qualifiers for the Indoor World Cup scheduled for February 2025 in Croatia.
The tournament begins on Thursday 23 May, and will be played in a round-robin format. The finals to decide the podium will be played on Sunday 26 May, the final day.

Zimbabwe start off the tourney on Thursday night, up against Namibia. On Friday afternoon, they are up against Botswana; finishing it off with the top side in African Indoor hockey – South Africa, on Saturday afternoon.
Coach Antonio Five has selected a 10-man squad comprising of both seasoned players and young guns ready to deliver.

In Africa, only these four countries play indoor hockey. Zimbabwe is ranked 30th on the world rankings; after South Africa (7th), Namibia (13th) and Botswana (27th).
As with the Men's team, the Women's team stands as the bottom in Africa, and 36th overall.
