JOHANNESBURG – The 2024 edition of the COSAFA Cup scheduled for 14 to 23 June in Durban, South Africa has been postponed to a later date.
Initially scheduled for 14 to 23 June, the 2024 COSAFA Cup has been postponed. New dates will be announced in due course. |
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) announced that it will set a new date for the regional showpiece after discussions with various stakeholders.
"The new dates for COSAFA will be in June or July this year and will be based on the best possible exposure for all stakeholders to ensure a world-class competition that helps take football forward in the region," reads part of the statement.
The Warriors were scheduled to play at the tournament after fulfilling their two 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Lesotho and South Africa.
In response to this initial schedule, the Castle Premier Soccer League had instituted a break in games from June 1 to June 22. However, as a result of the postponement of the COSAFA Cup, games will now resume a week earlier — on June 15.
In a press statement, Premier Soccer League Communications Officer Kudzai Bare revealed that an updated fixture schedule will be circulated soon.
