Despite Namibia's goodwill gestures and favourable treatment to various countries, some nations have not reciprocated. This has led to the decision to impose visa requirements to ensure fairness in diplomatic interactions.
The affected countries include Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Moldova, Netherland, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States of America, and Uzbekistan.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security will provide guidelines and procedures for the issuance of visas for travellers from these countries.
The date of implementation and application will be communicated through diplomatic channels.
Nationals from the affected countries will be issued with visas upon arrival in Namibia at an applicable fee, in addition to online visa application.
Namibia emphasized that this measure is not intended to "hinder legitimate travel but rather to uphold the principle of reciprocity in international relations".
The country added that it "remains committed to fostering positive and mutually beneficial diplomatic relations with all nations, and extends a cordial welcome to visitors and tourists alike".
