After a decade of entertaining moviegoers at Sam Levy Village, Ster Kinekor has been forced to shut down its cinema at the prime location when its lease expires on June 30.

End of an era — Ster Kinekor Sam Levy will close its doors on June 30.

In a press statement released earlier today, Zimbabwe's leading cinema franchise revealed that the landlord had made an unexpected decision to repurpose the space and shift its focus away from cinema.

"Our hearts are full of gratitude for the memories and joy this cinema has brought to many over the years," reads part of the statement.

Ster Kinekor locations at Joina City and in Bulawayo remain open, still offering the best entertainment to moviegoers.

Ster Kinekor also disclosed its intentions to open a new cinema to compensate for the closure of the Sam Levy theatre; as they are already actively searching for a new, suitable location.

The closure of the Sam Levy cinema marks the third Ster Kinekor shut down over the past decade — after the closure of the Eastgate and Westgate cinemas in 2017.
