Man fined for assisting illegal entry of Myanmar national

MUTARE – Nhamo Mabasa, 42, appeared before the Mutare Magistrates' Court on charges of violating the Immigration Act by unlawfully assisting a Myanmar national to enter Zimbabwe.

The court heard that on July 21, Mabasa facilitated the illegal entry of Aike See, a Myanmar national, into Zimbabwe from Mozambique without presenting See's passport to immigration authorities. 

The incident came to light the following day when Mabasa was intercepted at Forbes Border Post while attempting to help See cross back into Mozambique, leading to his arrest.

Mabasa was sentenced to pay a fine of $400. In default of payment, he faces 120 days of imprisonment.
