Serial armed robbers sentenced to 70 years imprisonment

ZIMSPHERE 

CHIREDZI — Tobias Chidavaenzi, 54, and Leonard Muzenda, 24, have been sentenced to 70 years in prison for a series of armed robberies, according to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA). 




The duo faced nine counts of armed robbery in the Chiredzi Magistrates' Court.

Court proceedings revealed that Chidavaenzi and Muzenda committed multiple robberies at various business centers around Chiredzi between January 9, 2024, and February 25, 2024. 

Armed with a Revolver Taurus pistol, they targeted shop owners, stealing cash, cellphones, groceries, and household property.

A police investigation led to their arrest and the recovery of the firearm used in the crimes. 

The court sentenced the pair to 70 years in prison, with 5 years suspended on condition of good behavior, resulting in an effective 65-year sentence.
