ZAFTA's 2024: Call for Submissions announced

HARARE — The Zimbabwe Annual Film and Television Awards (ZAFTAs) is now accepting submissions for its second edition, scheduled for 30 November 2024 in Harare.

The 2024 edition of the ZAFTA's will be running under the theme, 'Frame by Frame: Building a thriving cinematic landscape.'

The ZAFTAs is the first-ever independent film and television awards ceremony in Zimbabwe, organized by the Cinema Society of Zimbabwe. 

The inaugural edition of the awards was a stellar celebration of exceptional creative excellence in the Zimbabwean film and television industry, metonym Zimflix.

For this year's edition, the awards ceremony aspires to go up a notch by delivering a prestigious black-tie event; complete with a red carpet, live coverage, and an exclusive after-party for VIP guests. 

For anyone with an interest in Zimflix, the ZAFTA's offer an unparalleled opportunity to rub shoulders with industry professionals, corporate giants,filmmakers, and content creators, as well as network with potential collaborators.

Speaking to ZimSphere, ZAFTA's publicist Mr Richard Tentone promised an even better awards show, taking from the experience gained in hosting the inaugural edition in December last year.

"This edition is building upon the inaugural edition of the awards, which were well-received by the industry and audiences. The inaugural edition of the ZAFTAs taught us many lessons, and we are keen to build on that," he said

He also broke down the reduction in categories, as well as the addition of new categories, saying; 

"For the 2024 edition, we have streamlined our categories and included the Outstanding International Feature Film award for international participation in the ZAFTAs. 

"Zimbabwean film and television practitioners abroad have not been forgotten either, as we have a befitting Outstanding Performance in the Diaspora category. The Student Film category is reserved for students from any training institution."
