Zimbabwe announces squad for first-ever Test against Ireland

HARARE – Zimbabwe has announced a 15-member squad for their historic first-ever Test match against Ireland, scheduled for July 25-29 at Stormont in Belfast. The squad features a blend of experience and fresh talent, with four uncapped players making the cut.




The debutants, Clive Madande, Brian Bennett, Joylord Gumbie, and Johnathan Campbell, will be eager to prove themselves on the Test arena. 

Their inclusion reflects Zimbabwe Cricket's commitment to fostering new talent and injecting fresh energy into the team.

Leading the side will be experienced campaigner Craig Ervine, who will shoulder the responsibility of guiding the team through this landmark occasion. 

He will be supported by a core of seasoned players, including Sean Williams, Tendai Chatara, Blessing Muzarabani, and Richard Ngarava, who bring a wealth of experience and leadership to the table.

This Test match marks Zimbabwe's return to the longest format after a significant hiatus. 

With the last Test series was a two-match affair against the West Indies in February 2023, played in Buluwayo. 

The anticipation surrounding this encounter is palpable, with both sides keen to make their mark on this historic occasion.
