HARARE - Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has suspended two players from the National Premier League (NPL), pending a hearing, after they tested positive for marijuana during a recent in-house doping test.
The suspended players are Blessed Muzite, a batsman for Scorpions, and Brighton Chipingu, a bowler for Takashinga Patriots 2.
"The concerned players, Scorpions batter Blessed Muzite and Takashinga Patriots 2 bowler Brighton Chipingu, both tested positive for marijuana during a recent in-house doping test," ZC said in a statement.
ZC said that both players will appear for a disciplinary hearing soon.
Zimbabwe's cricket governing body maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards drug use.
In related news, recently reinstated players Wessly Madhevere and Brandon Mavuta, who served four-month suspensions after testing positive for marijuana, have been included in Zimbabwe's T20 squad to face India in the upcoming series commencing on July 6.
