PARIS, France — Zimbabwe’s Isaac Mpofu put up a spirited performance this morning to finish on position 19 at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Mpofu posted a season best time of 2 hours 10 minutes and 9 seconds on his Olympic debut, taking 19th out of a total of 80 athletes (including 9 who did not finish the race).
Ethiopia’s Tamirat Tola won the race in 2 hours 6 minutes 26 seconds, setting a new Olympic record.
Bashir Abdi of Belgium was second in 2 hours 6 minutes 47seconds and Kenya’s Benson Kipruto was third position after clocking 2 hours 7 minutes.
Meanwhile, his counterpart Rutendo Nyahora will compete in the Women's Marathon tomorrow at 0800hrs.
