Harare man sentenced to 10 years for possession of TelOne drop wires worth $16

ZIMSPHERE 

HARARE – Sylvester Huche, 26, has been sentenced to ten years in prison by the Harare Magistrates' Court for violating the Postal and Telecommunications Act, the National Prosecution Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) reported.




Huche was found in possession of three meters of TelOne drop wires, valued at $16. 

The incident occurred on July 29, 2024, at approximately 12:15 a.m. on Matleybent Road in Belvedere. 

Security personnel Caleb Kuwarunza and Edmore Jombo, who were conducting routine checks, intercepted Huche and searched him, discovering the wires and a pair of pliers in a black plastic bag he was carrying.

Following his arrest, Huche was handed over to the police. 

After the trial, he received the mandatory penalty of ten years imprisonment.
