NEW MUSIC: BoB HucCi puts Chiredzi on the map with ‘Wakatumwa Nani’

CHIREDZI-based hip hop artist BoB HucCi has made a blistering return to the music scene with Wakatumwa Nani - a collaboration with fellow Chiredzi artists McHudson, DJ Ally and Ronto.

The 25-year-old had taken a hiatus from music for over a year to focus on his studies.

He recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Marketing from the Institution of Marketing Management (IMM), and now he is ready to put Chiredzi in the musical conversation, “HuccCiRedzi,” as he likes to call it.

Born Robert Tatenda Chinembiri, BoB HucCi started off music in high school; entertaining classmates at Riverton Academy and Sandon Academy. 

In 2016, he joined Mulanation Entertainment under the moniker P06 Don Dripo. He became independent in 2021, and partnered with Allied Kings Entertainment. A name-change to BoB Hucci came in 2022, in a bid to “be more authentic,” according to the artist.

Over the eight years he’s been in the industry he has done plenty collaborations with big names like Mulanation head honcho ScripMuLa, rising star Busiso, dancehall don Bazooker, PrinceBoyaH and hip hop star R.Peels. 

He credits producers SmokeBeats and Blaqboi for being key contributors to his musical journey since he went mainstream in 2016.

For Wakatumwa Nani, BoB HucCi decided to come closer to home, coming together with artists in his hometown to make an uplifting anthem that is sure to make waves in Chiredzi and beyond. McHudson does justice to the chorus alongside BoB HucCi, who also adds an energetic verse that is the backbone of the song. Young Ronto spices up the song with two short and sweet bridging verses, while DJ Ally closes off with a rhythmic patois verse. 

The song was produced by McHudson and Blaqboi Da Don of Allied Kings, and released under BoB HucCi’s own imprint; Hucci Hive Family Entertainment.

The song dropped on August 22, accompanied by a lyric visualizer made possible with the creative contributions of Blu Mordecai, Carat Studios, Dir. A.M, Poka RichTribe, and Glow Macc. The visualizer was shot in Chiredzi, and features the stars donning merch from BoB HucCi’s own clothing brands - Hona Hucci and Hona Hupenyu.

BoB HucCi lists his musical influences as BoB Marley, Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, Tyga and Big Sean. The influence is evident in his ultimate vision; whereby he aims to use his influence to discover new talent and open opportunities for rising stars through his BoB HucCI Foundation. 

To conclude, BoB HucCi promised to keep the fire burning with upcoming singles and collaborations with artists like Chengeto Brown and Boss Pumacol. He is also planning to give Wakatumwa Nani the Fire Emoji treatment – a mega-remix with artists from all over Zimbabwe, accompanied with the official video.
