The State alleges that some time in September 2024, around 1500 hours, the accused dragged the young girl into an unfinished building. There, he allegedly threatened to kill her if she screamed or told anyone, before proceeding to remove her clothing and assaulting her.
The attack ceased only when a voice called the victim's name, prompting the accused to stop.
On the evening of September 14, 2024, around 2000 hours, the man reportedly cut off his own manhood with a knife, screaming that the victim was his wife.
The offence came to light when the girl confided in her grandmother.
Subsequently, the NPAZ applied for a mental health evaluation of the accused, which the court granted.
Currently receiving medical attention from a hospital bed in Gweru, the accused is set to appear in court on October 8, 2024.
