Mugabe's son Bellarmine faces arrest warrant after court no-show for disorderly conduct, knife possession

BEITBRIDGE—A warrant of arrest has been issued for Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, son of late President Robert Mugabe, after he failed to appear before the Beitbridge Magistrates Court yesterday. He faces charges of disorderly conduct and possession of prohibited knives.

On August 31, 2024, Mugabe's vehicle, driven by a South African national, was stopped at the Bubi Security Roadblock in Beitbridge.

Authorities requested the driver's passport and vehicle registration documents. Before compliance, Mugabe handed his passport to the officer.

The officer instructed the driver to park the vehicle off-road.

Mugabe allegedly exited the vehicle and confronted the officer, shouting, "What are you doing, you are delaying me for the fourth time. I am rushing to a wedding in Harare, check my passport, don't you know who I am."

For the second charge, the State alleges that during the confrontation, a small brown knife reportedly fell from Mugabe's black hooded jacket, leading to his arrest.
