Ras Pompy dispels rumours of an affair with his friend’s mother in the new song ‘Bepa Ratofamba’

Ras Pompy has released a new song titled Bepa Ratofamba in which he dismisses allegations that he slept with his friend's mother. It is an effort to clear his name from the allegations, which spread like wild fire on social media after H-Metro ran a story implicating him in such messy affairs.

The rumours surfaced after his friend, Wesley Shoniwa, was arrested and appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court facing charges of attempted murder after he stabbed his uncle. It was reported that the stabbing came after his uncle allegedly confronted Ras Pompy's friend over the alleged affair. 

Ras Pompy's friend told the court that he had become tired of hearing stories of the affair in the community, lambasting the chanter for having an affair with someone way older than him—someone who should be his mother. He said everyone in Mbare, where he comes from, was laughing at him because of the alleged affair and when his uncle addressed the issue to him, he lost his temper and stabbed him. 

For Ras Pompy, he has viewed this as an attempt to smear his name, as he expressed in the new song. In the song Bepa Ratofamba he flatly denies all of this, telling naysayers not to "tarnish" his name. He makes it clear that he is not the type of person to be engaged in such issues. Produced by DJ Fidel and Playmaker, the song comes off as a typical ZimDancehall tune, but with catchy elements to it. On a musical basis, it is a good song one can find palatable, more so with its message as viewed in the context of the allegations.
