Harare-based award-winning poet, Shaznay Megan Wood, known as Thee Ammartian, launched her new spoken word EP titled Megamind on Saturday at Ela the Garden in Newlands. The multi-award-winning poet and 2024 NAMA nominee hosted a successful listening party, enchanting the audience with live performances replete with spoken-word excellence.

Among the crowd favorites were Issa Mwanangu Tiza and Church Hurt, which drive home issues affecting the girl child and the community at large.
In a conversation with ZimSphere, Thee Ammartian expressed her satisfaction with the event, highlighting performances by other poets like Kuda Rice, Denzel Soka, Tanaka Ects Chuma, Mambo Guramatunhu, and Deejay Ezjones.
Megamind is a five-track EP blending poetry and music, aimed at amply providing an introspective listening experience for poetry enthusiasts. The collection addresses societal issues, including the challenges faced by the girl child, family dynamics, church, spirituality, and personal growth.
"Megamind is a five-track EP with a fusion of poetry and music and the main idea of the event was to have a small listening session with lovers of poetry," Thee Ammartian said
"In Megamind I’m talking about different issues that affect society, the girl child , family, church and spirituality and personal development."
In Issa Mwanangu Tiza, Thee Ammartian offers advice to girls on exercising self-control over sexual desires, emphasizing the unique challenges they face in pursuing dreams and aspirations.
Having started her career in 2015 while still in high school, Thee Ammartian draws inspiration from her environment and life experiences, using her poetry to offer a personal perspective on society and the world.
"My environment and personal life experience inspired me to write about the society and world at large from my own personal perspective," she said.
The EP Megamind will be available on digital platforms on the 6th of October.
