HARARE – An 18-year-old woman from Chitungwiza, Shamiso Pretty Bvukure, has been convicted for forging her Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) Ordinary Level results to secure a spot in the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP). Bvukure, a resident of Murisa Park Unit O in Chitungwiza, appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Court, where she was found guilty of violating the Zimbabwe Examination Act.
The case came to light on October 11, 2024, when the Police General Headquarters' recruiting section requested verification of the ZIMSEC results for several applicants.
Upon scrutiny, it was discovered that Bvukure had falsified her results slip, altering several subjects to meet the recruitment requirements.
The forged slip showed significant changes in key subjects: Bvukure had upgraded her Mathematics grade from a U to a C, her English Language from a U to a B, and her Shona Language from an E to an A.
Additionally, she adjusted her History grade from a U to an A and falsely added subjects such as Combined Science and Commerce to the slip.
Following her conviction, Bvukure was sentenced to 12 months of imprisonment. However, six months of the sentence were suspended for five years on the condition of good behavior.
The remaining six months were suspended on the condition that Bvukure performs 210 hours of community service.
