In an interview with ZimSphere, Chishato elaborated on the themes and production process behind his new body of work. The six tracks on Emergency are: Emergency, Masahwira, Vanogona, Usakanganwe, Chenjera, and Ndozviripo.

Chenjera and Ndozviripo were produced by RSK at Focus Africa Studios in Kariba,” Chishato revealed.

“The other four were produced by Clive Mono Mukundu at Monolio Studios in Harare.”

This is Chishato’s third album, following Shanduka in 2022 and Zano Ndiwe in 2023. Emergency, according to the artist, is an appreciative album—one that covers a wide range of life’s experiences, offering listeners lessons and reflections on various aspects of society.

Chishato emphasized that the album contains valuable teachings aimed at uplifting and guiding listeners.

“The album Emergency carries different messages and teachings,” he said.

Each song has its own unique narrative. Chishato explained the essence of each track:

Masahwira - “This song tells the society that no man is an island. We all depend on friends and the people around us.”

Chenjera - “It's an advisory song about managing feelings and emotions—like an elder advising a younger brother to be brave and wise, no matter how tough life gets.”

Usakanganwe - “This is a reminder to those moving to the city to never forget their roots and to keep working hard.”

Vanogona -  “It feels great to be congratulated, and this song is motivational, emphasizing the importance of recognition.”

Emergency - “A simple reminder of life’s uncertainty, like losing a loved one unexpectedly.”

Ndoozviripo - “Sometimes love is sweet, but it can turn sour when family members interfere in a relationship, which can lead to a breakup.”

With three albums under his belt, Chishato has continued to build a reputation for creating music that resonates deeply with his audience. With Emergency in 2024, he continues to solidify his place in the Afro-jazz genre.
