HARARE – The "Daylight Robbery" stand-up comedy show is set to take place this Saturday at Batanai Gardens, promising a stellar lineup of Zimbabwe's nascent comedic talent. The show will feature notable comedians such as Chipenzi Da Comedic, Tinashe ThisIsIt, Gosh Vines, MC Josh, Mike, Tinotenda Lebohang, and Kingslee ZW.
"This is the second volume of the 'Zimbabwe is Open for Jokes' edition with the theme 'Daylight Robbery'," Chipenzi explained.
"The theme is driven by how we rob ourselves of joy because of miseries when we can turn those terrible situations into something we can laugh about."
He continued, "This show will also bring an evolution into the transformation of the skit world into stand-up comedy. With the likes of Gosh and MC Kingslee following in the footsteps of Nijo, the robbery team just keeps getting better and better."
The event promises more than just stand-up routines. Danny N is set to provide musical interludes throughout the show to offer the audience a breather from the non-stop laughter.
"Danny N is going to bless the event with musical interludes because I’ve realized with a lineup of comedians like MC Josh, Mike, Tinashe, and myself, there’s a need to put in a musical breather so that people won’t die of laughter," Chipenzi quipped.
Chipenzi has been a key figure in the Zimbabwean comedy scene, having previously hosted "Zimbabwe is Open for Jokes Volume 1" with the theme "African Mama's Boy."
He has also performed at Doc Vikela’s comedy special, What the Doctor Ordered, and Tinashe ThisIsIt's comedy show, We Just Friends.
Reflecting on the growth of his career and the comedy scene in Zimbabwe, Chipenzi said, "Featuring in so many shows this year has pushed for demand for more, and this growth in comedy needs one to be consistent, hence the upcoming show, 'Daylight Robbery'."
He concluded by expressing his excitement for the future of comedy in the country: "Expect it to be bigger and better—it’s time to break barriers and accept comedy as Zimbabwe’s culture."
"Daylight Robbery" promises to be a night of transformative laughter, blending everyday struggles with humor in a way that resonates deeply with its audience.
With a solid lineup of comedians and the inclusion of music, the show is poised to deliver a unique experience that will leave attendees both entertained and reflective.
