Tazvivinga is accused of selling land owned by the Kadoma City Council.

He allegedly misled land seekers by claiming that the property, known as lot Railway 7, belonged to the Mupamombe clan.

Desperate for land, buyers reportedly paid a minimum of USD 250, which Tazvivinga called the Chief's token of appreciation.

In return, they received affidavits as proof of purchase and were subsequently allocated plots where they constructed houses.

The situation came to light on February 1st when the Kadoma City Council alerted the CID law and order division about the illegal settlements. Upon his arrest, Tazvivinga failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for his actions.

He has been remanded in custody until October 8, 2024, as the legal proceedings continue.
