The event is scheduled for Friday, November 29, 2024, in Accra.

S.W.A.P. is a dynamic initiative designed to foster meaningful conversations in a relaxed, social environment, encouraging open and honest exchanges.

Ms. Ngarande, along with other influential leaders, rising stars, and respected public figures, will gather to explore "Afromantality" — an African-centered framework for masculinity that emphasizes self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and community responsibility.

The second edition of the event, themed "Afromantality Night," will focus on engaging African men in transformative, intergenerational dialogues about positive masculinity and personal growth.

The event aligns with International Men’s Month, Youth Month, and serves as a precursor to the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

Ms. Jackie Ngarande expressed her gratitude for the invitation and reaffirmed her commitment to community work.

"I'm deeply honoured to accept this invitation from the African Union. Being part of the S.W.A.P. initiative not only inspires me but also invigorates my commitment to empowering our communities. Together, we can foster positive change, uplift those around us, and create a brighter future for all," she said.

She also highlighted her continued dedication to creating spaces that uplift voices and transform communities.

"As the founder of the African Women Empowerment Circle, I am committed to creating spaces that uplift voices and encourage transformative change. I am excited to share insights and learn from fellow leaders as we explore the immense potential of positive masculinity," she added.

“As we approach the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, it’s vital that we not only advocate for change but also engage men as allies in this fight. The S.W.A.P. event is a powerful step toward building a more equitable society."

As part of the panel, Ms. Jackie Ngarande will speak on the power of storytelling in her work and how stories from African women can contribute to reshaping the narrative of masculinity and its impact on the next generation.

She will also share how the African Women Empowerment Circle has uplifted marginalized women and girls and emphasize the roles men and boys can play in dismantling gender-based violence and promoting gender equality across Africa.
