ZIMSPHERE

CHIPINGE – Mike Shingai of Gaza, Chipinge, has been remanded in custody by the Chipinge Magistrates’ Court on charges of murder. The incident in question occurred on October 31, 2024, when Shingai allegedly confronted and fatally attacked Heriman Kazembe, the new boyfriend of his girlfriend, in her home.

According to court allegations, Shingai discovered Kazembe in the bedroom of his girlfriend, sparking a deadly confrontation. Armed with a wooden log, the accused struck Kazembe on the head.

Despite attempting to flee, Kazembe collapsed after running approximately four metres from the scene.

A concerned neighbor, alarmed by Kazembe’s cries for help, intervened and managed to stop Shingai from further assaulting the victim. However, despite being allowed to leave, Kazembe never made it home.

He was later discovered lying along the Birchenough-Mount Selinda Road and was rushed to the hospital. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries upon admission.

Shingai has been advised by the court to apply for bail at the High Court, pending further legal proceedings.
