Harare-based stand-up comedian Farai Mukahanana, whose stage name is MC Josh, promises to bring laughter at an upcoming stand up comedy show 'Ndakuita ZveComedy' which is set to take place on 20 December at Batanai Mall Nexus in Harare.
Speaking with ZimSphere MC Josh revealed that 'Ndakuita ZveComedy' is all about detailing how he got into comedy.
"Ndakuita ZveComedy is a show to reveal how I got to do stand up comedy and me proclaiming that I'm serious about it not something I'm just trying to do," he remarked.
"I feel like I owe my family, friends and fans an explanation on how I got to this point because earlier this year this wasn't looking likely."
The upcoming show will feature other comics such as Simba, Mwanakwaye, Stacy, Gladmore, Chipenzi, Chris Cypher, Tino and The Preacherman who will be the host of the show.
Mc Josh said people must expect the birth of a star when he will be performing during the show.
"My expectations are the same as those of my family, fans and friends – the birth of a star. The day I break forth as a kid who can do it and destined for nothing but greatness," he said.
MC Josh commenced his comedy career this year in May when he performed at Doc Vikela's show 'What the Doctor Ordered'.
Since then, he has performed at 'Funny Stories That Heal' by Frank Chirisa, 'It Was Overdue' by Mike, 'Daylight Robbery' by Chipenzi the Comedian and 'We Just Friends' by Tinashe Fortune.
Asked about what inspired him to get into comedy, Mc Josh intimated that he had always been fascinated with this art form at home and school.
"I always did comedy at home, school and everywhere. Then I became a legit MC and did it through that. I then went into stand up comedy after Doc Vikela gave me enough confidence that I can also do it. I have always been a sucker for giving people a good time and seeing smiles, and more so laughs. I feel fulfilled with smiles and laughter," he said
"The main issue is myself, I challenge myself and sometimes maybe a little to harshly.
"If I have a bad performance or sometimes maybe just an okay performance I destroy myself and it gets into my head that I need to work harder and grow."
The upcoming comic said he also faces financial problems when hosting stand up comedy shows which is the main challenge in this industry.
"The other things I experience are not issues but money to finance the shows, pay the media team and performers is usually interesting since most of the money is generated from ticket sales and since people don't know and see the significance of stand up comedy is they might not come," he said.
