BINDURA – Wiskey Tennis (34), has been sentenced to 60 years in prison by the Bindura Magistrates' Court for a series of violent robberies and unlawful entry crimes that plagued Mashonaland Central. The sentencing comes as a significant relief to communities terrorised by his criminal activities.
Tennis orchestrated a string of robberies targeting homes and businesses, where he used a pistol and a wooden stick to intimidate his victims into surrendering cash, electronics, and household goods.
His actions left a trail of fear and financial losses in his wake.
Among his notable crimes, in June 2024, Tennis broke into a residence in Greenhill, Bindura, where he threatened Lindiwe Kuzondishaya with a pistol and a stick before forcibly taking US$1,600.
In another instance on September 21, 2024, he struck again, this time targeting Tafadzwa Ngwenya. Armed with the same weapons, he stole US$12,000, a plasma TV, an HP laptop, and a Huawei phone.
His violent methods and frequent attacks turned him into a feared figure in the communities he targeted.
Beyond Bindura, Tennis extended his criminal activities to nearby areas, including Concession and Chiweshe, leaving residents in constant fear of his next move.
His pattern of using violence and intimidation became a hallmark of his crimes, which spanned several months.
