HARARE – Zimbabwean record label Off Centre Department (OCD) wrapped up an eventful and prolific 2024 with the release of a video titled “OCD The Movie - 2024 Compilation”, a visual recap of their achievements and milestones throughout the year. The video features some of the label’s prominent artists, including Slyme Foxx, Icey Ekxne, and Lain, showcasing their music releases and performances. The theme “Sweeping the Mess Up” obviously serves as an apt symbol of OCD’s mission to ‘clean up the local music industry’ by setting new standards as regards quality and professionalism.

A major highlight of OCD’s year was their Victoria Falls Camp, which brought together artists, producers, and creatives for a weekend of collaboration, growth, and inspiration.

This camp was elevated to new heights with the involvement of Mashbeatz, one of South Africa’s top hip-hop producers. Known for his work with artists like A-Reece and Words, Mashbeatz brought his top-notch expertise to the OCD camp, contributing to new music projects and offering wise mentorship to the Zimbabwean artists.

The presence of Mashbeatz at the Victoria Falls Camp further validated OCD’s growing influence beyond Zimbabwe’s borders. His participation highlighted OCD’s commitment to expanding its reach and raising the bar for Zimbabwean hip-hop on the regional and international stage.

A focus on quality and organization

One of the reasons OCD stands out is their commitment to professionalism and structure. Their operations are well-organized, ensuring that artists are properly managed, and projects are delivered with quality.

Their strategic approach has made them one of the most respected labels in Zimbabwe, with media outlets recognizing them as one of the most organized and visionary music entities in the country.

With the success of 2024 behind them, OCD is set to continue its upward trajectory in 2025. The label’s efforts to “sweep the mess” and redefine Zimbabwe’s hip-hop scene are paying off, with new partnerships, collaborations, and opportunities opening up.
