MELULEKI NCUBE – THE NORTON TIMES
The Norton Town Council (NTC) has officially reinstated Town Secretary Kizito Muhomba, marking his return after nearly three years of suspension.
Muhomba had been sidelined following allegations of misconduct, which were subsequently investigated by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC). However, the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works, and National Housing lifted his suspension last week, signaling that the charges against him have been dropped.
In accordance with protocol, his reinstatement to 208 Galloway Road required a full council resolution, prompting a special chamber meeting on Monday.
A reliable source within NTC confirmed that the meeting proceeded without much debate.
"As you know, this is a directive from the ministry, and our meeting was more about taking note and then formally taking him back on board as head of NTC business. That has been done, and he will resume duties anytime from now," the source stated.
During Muhomba’s suspension, NTC Finance Director Tongai Mandude had been serving as Acting Town Secretary.
